Dynamic Script Installation Quick Guide Transcript

    Scene 1: Welcome:
Welcome to the dynamic script installation quick guide. This guide will demonstrate how to quickly install & configure dynamic link code for your website account. Click next to begin the tutorial.

    Scene 2: Link Script:
Once you have finished creating your account, you can administer your website. After adding at least one category, and adding your links via manually, uploaded as a file, or by the link extractor, you’re now ready to generate the link script provided by My Link Helper. This tutorial covers all versions; ASP, PHP, and ASPx, but for this example we are going to select ASP – Dynamic. In whichever code that you require, simply select the desired code and click get code.
    Scene 3: Link Code:
Once the desired code is selected and submitted, the dynamic code will be displayed for you to copy & paste. Select all and copy the link script.

    Scene 4: Copy Code:
Now it’s time to paste the link script directly into your links page. In this tutorial our links page is entitled links.asp. Open the file in notepad or your current web/html editor and paste the script at the top of the file and save your document.

    Scene 5: Variable Change:
Now that we have our link script pasted into our links.asp page, there is one more small change that we need to complete before we can perform a test of your new links directory. We need to change the PageName variable to the name of our links page file. By default the PageName = resources which you can see here highlighted. Let’s go ahead and change that to links, the name of the file in which we pasted our link script and save our document.

    Scene 6: Links Displayed 1:
Depending on what type of web hosting services you have, you will need to copy your new links page file to your web server per whichever method provided to you by your web hosting company. Once your modified links file is placed on your web server, we can then finish our test to determine our link directory is operating correctly. As you can see here in this slide, this is the default display or your links directory. Congratulations! You have successfully configured you links page to be processed by My Link Helper!

    Scene 7: Links Displayed 2:
There are also other configuration options available for your links directory to make it look more like your site. One of the easiest and recommended ways is to copy your header, & footer html in the appropriate locations within your links page file to better match your websites template as seen here. Visit www.mylinkhelper.com/how_to_customize.asp for samples and more detailed information on how to adjust the look and feel or your directory using style sheet parameters.
